Weather in Paris
Parisians dress for the weather they want, not the weather they have — and somehow it works. The city has four genuine seasons, each with its own character. Spring is unpredictable and beautiful. Summer is warm but storm-prone in the afternoons. Autumn is arguably the best: clear, golden, cool. Winter is mild by northern European standards but the grey can be relentless.
Best time to visit
April–June for spring colour. September–October for golden light and fewer crowds.
What to know
Summer afternoons in Paris can turn stormy fast — particularly July and August. If you're planning outdoor dining or a Seine cruise, morning is safer than evening.
"The Eiffel Tower in light rain looks better than in direct sun. Paris has a way of making even the grey feel deliberate."
